.: Safe-In-Lock

Are conventional karabiners the "last word in wisdom"?
Steel karabiners + system to prevent start with open leg-straps cause 400 g more weight compared to the SIL-system.
Karabiner harnesses are more complicated due to the extra fall out security system which is necessary.
Many of the konventional karabiners presently in use can break suddenly due to their material fatigue problem.
» See the case in the Czech Republic!
Casually there are reports of gate open flights.
Many karabiners are not easy to be operated with gloves.
The safer alternative!
The Safe-In-Lock developed by Finsterwalder avoids the problem of gate play. At an dynamic fatigue test of the DHV, the SIL bore up against the 5 million cycles with an upper last value of 210 kg!

The SIL has 3 safety steps preventing undesired opening and offers the highest level of user comfort. It has been used and tested in over 1.000 Charly harnesses and the feedback has been exclusively positive.

In practical situations the SIL has proven itself even in critical instances such as landings in trees or water, and has shown to be safe against freezing up in winter.
The innovation
The SIL is karabiner, leg-strap buckle and security against falling out of the harness all combined in one. It makes for a weight saving of approx. 400 g, the harness apparatus becomes simpler and user comfort improves.

The paraglider can only be launched when the pilot is safely connected to the harness.

Incorrect usage is technically excluded. A safety mechanism prevents undesired opening even when the leg-strap tongues have been inadequately inserted.

All Charly harnesses are available with conventional or Pin Lock karabiners. Karabiner harnesses have T-strap fall out security and seperate leg-straps, that are attached to the seating surface and ensure plenty of freedom of movement when launching.
Due to the many buckles in chest- and leg-straps operation and weight are greater than with the SIL.
Hence increasing numbers of pilots opt for the Safe-In-System.
The SIL-X harness apparatus combines the advantages of conventional karabiner harnesses with seperate chest- and leg-straps with the merits of the Get-Up-System.
The low lying chest-strap with ABS-bracing is close-fitting. SIL-X is especially suitable for slim pilots. The leg-straps run as usual outwards to the main suspension straps, from where they run upwards to the SIL.
The close-fitting leg-straps do not hinder freedom of movement when launching and do not slip. An easy transition from launch to flight position is ensured. The set length is suitable for various sized pilots. Frequent adjustment is unnecessary. Special adjustment is carried out centrally below the seating surface.
By contrast to the Get-Up-System the leg-straps are not crossed over by backwards launches, making launch by strong wind conditions problem-free.
SIL-D has won many enthusiasts due to it's simplicity and is suitable for heavier and slimmer pilots. Click twice and you are surely connected to harness and paraglider. When launching you will enjoy unlimited freedom of movement.
SIL-D includes all advantages of the Get-Up-System, simplifies operation and reduces weight as 2 buckles (and/or karabiners) are dispensed with.
Seperation from harness and paraglider after touch down with one grasp (suspension straps must be unburdened).
The sensitivity of the harness to canopy collapse can be regulated during flight.
For backward launch a leg-strap spreading-bar is delivered with the harness
ABS adjustable (zero to moderate effect).
SIL-X & SIL-D are available for the Charly harnesses » Zip, » Tube, » Air-Tube.

SIL-D: Rapid separation from harness and paraglider after landing by unburdened harness straps.
